COVID-19

At S.R.T. MedStaff, the safety and well-being of our staff and patients is our first priority. Since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in Ontario, S.R.T. MedStaff has put into place several safety practices to align with the directives and recommendations of Health Canada, Ontario Health, and Public Health. With the ever-changing nature of the virus, we monitor daily reports and continue to review and update our policies to ensure we follow best practice. We also continue to educate our staff, which includes updates posted to our intranet.

All staff are required to self-screen for symptoms daily. If they have even one symptom, they are required to call the office or nurse for further assessment. Further to this, staff are required to complete a questionnaire screener for every patient before every visit. If a patient is experiencing any symptoms, or has other COVID-19 risks, a nurse will follow up with them to complete a more detailed COVID-19 assessment. If a patient does not pass the screener, the nurse will provide support and guidance for next steps.

All staff are provided with universal personal protective equipment (PPE) – surgical masks, eye protection, and gloves – to wear in the patient’s home for every visit. They also carry extra PPE, such as N-95 masks, and have full PPE kits to carry with them in case they require additional protection while out in the community. Patients, family members, caregivers, etc. are also strongly encouraged to wear a face mask while staff are in the home to protect themselves and our staff from the spread of infection.

If an S.R.T. MedStaff nurse or personal support worker has COVID-19, an assessment is completed to see if they had any contact with patients and will inform them accordingly. Further, the employee will not return to work until cleared to do so by S.R.T. MedStaff’s Return to Work Clearance Protocol and by Public Health where required.

We value your feedback and survey patients about their experience with our Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) practices. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call S.R.T. MedStaff at 416-968-0833.
